What a new moon in Leo means
With the Sun and Moon together in Leo, this new moon opens a cycle of about four weeks that peaks at the full moon in Aquarius on August 9, 2025. Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun; its keywords: generous, dramatic, loyal.
The mood wants to be seen. Generosity, drama and appetite for play all rise, and so does sensitivity to being overlooked. Good for celebrating, performing and asking; less good for quiet compromise.
The instant is the same everywhere; only the clock reading changes. Distances are centre to centre. There is no official supermoon definition: here a supermoon is a new moon with the Moon within 360,000 km of Earth, a micromoon one beyond 405,000 km. Computed with astronomy-engine, tropical zodiac.
