Every pair page shows three scores out of five, computed from each sign’s element and modality:
- Chemistry (elements): fire with air or earth with water 5, the same element 4, fire with earth or air with water 3, fire with water or earth with air 2.
- Pace (modalities): two different modalities 4, two cardinal or two mutable signs 3, two fixed signs 2.
- Overall: the average of the two, plus half a point when each sign is on the other’s classic match list, minus half a point when neither is.

Compatibility questions
Which zodiac signs are most compatible?
On these scores, the highest go to complementary elements (fire with air, earth with water) between signs of different modalities that sit on each other’s classic best-match lists. Every sign has three or four such matches; the ★ in the lists above marks the mutual ones.
Is sun-sign compatibility enough?
It is the coarse view: one placement from each person. The Moon, Venus, Mars and the rising sign often matter more day to day, and they differ even between two people with the same Sun sign. Your free birth chart shows all of them; Venus-sign compatibility compares how the two of you love.
Can a low-scoring pair work?
Yes. A low score marks where two styles rub, not a verdict on two people. Each pair page says where the friction sits and what each sign has to bend on, which is more useful than the number.
