September 25 zodiac sign: Libra, not Virgo

If you were born on September 25, your sign is Libra, not Virgo: from 1980 to 2030 the Sun always enters Libra on September 22 or 23, so this date is Libra at any hour. The Sun sits about 2° into Libra on this date, in the first decan, where Libra's core takes on a Moon flavour. Here's what the date fixes, and what only your birth time can tell you.

Your sign: Libra

The cardinal air sign that lives in relationship and refuses to choose between two goods.

A Libra Sun is built around fairness and the relational fabric. You're allergic to bullies and to anyone who treats other people as means rather than ends. You see all sides — the gift and the curse of your sign — and you're often the person who can name what each side actually wants when everyone else has lost the thread.

The date fixes the Sun; the year and hour fix the rest. A Libra born September 25 with the Moon in Leo runs on a different inner weather from one with the Moon in Libra: see Libra Sun, Leo Moon. Your rising sign needs the birth time; the twelve Libra Sun combinations show what each one changes.

In the US (2000–2014), an average of 12,205 babies were born on each September 25, rank 20 of 366 dates; Libra is number 5 of 12 signs (8.52%). What's the most common zodiac sign?

The Moon on September 25, 1980–2030

Across the 51 years from 1980 to 2030, the Moon at noon UTC on September 25 was most often in Virgo (7 years) and least often in Gemini, Leo, Scorpio, and Sagittarius (3 years each). Unlike the Sun, the Moon sign depends on the birth year. On September 25, 2026, the Moon stays in Pisces the whole UTC day.

In 25 of those 51 years (49%) the Moon changed sign during September 25 itself, so in those years the birth time decides the Moon as well as the rising sign. Cells with an arrow mark them, with the UTC time of the change. The Moon was exactly full on September 25 in 1988, 1999, and 2018, and new in 1984 and 2022.

Find your birth year. One sign means the Moon spent the whole UTC day there; an arrow means it changed sign that day, at the UTC time shown: born before it, the first sign; after it, the second. The Moon sign calculator settles it in seconds; your birth chart adds the rising sign and houses.

Times in UTC: a birth late in the evening in the Americas, or early in the morning in Asia, can fall on the neighbouring UTC date.

Your decan: the first decan of Libra

Each sign is divided into three 10° decans, and each decan has a sub-ruler that shades the sign's core. Degrees 0–10 of Libra belong to Moon: your inner emotional life — what you need to feel safe, how you self-soothe, how you love and are loved. Read it as Libra with a Moon accent — the air core is unchanged, the emphasis moves.

What the date can't tell you

The Sun is one placement out of ten. Your Moon sign changes every two to three days, so Libras born on September 25 in different years have different Moons; your rising sign changes every two hours and needs a birth time and place. Those two carry most of what people mean by "personality" in a chart.
