What this site does
My Chart Check computes your full natal birth chart for free — sun, moon, rising, all ten planets in their signs and houses, plus every major aspect between them. Computation runs locally, against the actual ephemeris for the moment of your birth. Nothing about that step is paywalled or rate-limited.
If the chart you see is interesting and you want a longer interpretation written specifically against your placements, there's an optional $4.99 AI-powered personal reading. One-time, includes one free follow-up question, no subscription. The AI is given your specific chart as context and writes from a master-astrologer system prompt — not generic horoscope filler, not "the stars say."
How the math works
Planetary positions come from astronomy-engine, an MIT-licensed ephemeris library that produces the same precise positions used by professional astrology software. We use the Western tropical zodiac (the standard system that divides the sky into 12 equal-degree segments anchored to the equinoxes) and Whole Sign houses (the traditional Hellenistic house system where each whole sign equals one house — simpler than Placidus, more reliable when birth time is uncertain).
The optional reading uses Anthropic's Claude. Daily and weekly free horoscopes use a faster, smaller model (Claude Haiku) — the longer monthly and yearly free horoscopes, and every paid reading, use Claude Sonnet, the more capable model.
What this site explicitly doesn't do
No predictions about specific events or specific dates. We won't tell you whether you'll meet someone in March or take a job in October. That's not because the chart can't suggest themes — it's because turning themes into specific predictions is where astrology stops being a useful mirror for self-reflection and starts being a fortune-telling product, with all the false certainty that comes with it. And in some jurisdictions, the line between "reflective astrology" and "fortune-telling" matters legally.
The other thing this site doesn't do: lock the basics behind a paywall. Your chart, your sun sign meaning, your planet placements, the daily horoscopes for all twelve signs — all free. The paid reading is the optional luxury, not the gate.
Who built it
This site is built and maintained by Darius Valaitis — a software engineer and indie maker. There's no team, no investors, no marketing department. Feedback, corrections, and the occasional "your Mercury retrograde explanation is too kind" all go to [email protected].
Sister project: My Day Check — the same approach applied to tarot.
